DEFENDERS Sr Business Analyst in Indianapolis, Indiana
The Senior Business Analyst (BA) serves as the conduit between the customer, software development and QA teams through which requirements flow. The primary objective is requirements elicitation and how that translates into technical solutions that add value to projects both on a small and large scale. This role ensures business architecture governance is addressed in organization changes. Additionally, is responsible for more complex, high profile initiatives working in tandem with a Senior Project Manager.
Determines operational objectives by researching, documenting and updating business functions; eliciting information; validating that output meets requirements.
Works independently but may look for guidance from Sr. Management when engaged in larger more complex projects.
Work independently with users to define concepts and needs under direction of project managers where applicable.
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts. Business requirements and technical documents need to be clear and concise.
Collaborates with IT teams by analyzing requirements, including creating user interface mockups and wireframe models; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving. Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Leadership ‐ Ability to provide leadership and project management support for enterprise‐wide improvement projects.
Presents findings and recommendations from current state to future state.
Influencer ‐ ability to influence stakeholders to achieve results and ensure long term objectives are met.
Business Knowledge ‐ streamlining and standardizing business processes.
Negotiator/Mediator ‐ act as the liaison between technology teams, business teams, and consultation with stakeholders.
Create use case scenarios and manage user acceptance testing to validate the results match requirements delivered.
Contributes to the overall team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and on time.
Ability to handle complex, high profile initiatives.
Enterprise Analysis ‐ planning several inter‐related initiatives and provide recommended actions to stakeholders in decisions about which initiatives to tackle and how to tackle them.
Ability to tackle projects across multiple domains and handle new business domains with the same level of confidence.
Responsible to maintaining a deep awareness of how a business operation works and help stakeholders explore technology possibilities to more effectively execute on their roles.
Mentors Business Analysts to aid in the developmental growth of the team’s skill sets.
Facilate aligment meetings with the business and help to prioritize projects and initiatives.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. CBAP® (Certification Business Analysis Professional™) is preferred, or IIBA (International Institue of Business Analysis) is preferred.
Skills/Background: Ability to work in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities, demands and timelines and make adjustments promptly and efficiently. Software Documentation and Software Requirements gathering/analysis ‐ Uses interviewing and facilitation skills to elicit and analyze requirements from business stakeholders. SQL/Database expertise is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle Process. Analyzing Information ‐ Possess problem solving abilities. Understanding of systems engineering concepts. Knowledge of technology structures: networks, data base, communications, internet. Highly proficient understanding and use of business analysis concepts. (Business Structure, Stakeholder Analysis, Business Rules Analysis, Data Analysis, Organization Modeling, Requirements workshops/interviews, Decision Analysis). Cost benefit analysis. Proficiency using Microsoft Visio, Word (TFS experience preferred) & CRM.
Minimum Years' Experience: 4‐6 years in an analyst role (or similar work experience)
